About
Margaret Echt, M.D.

Dr. Margaret Echt attended LSU Medical School and then completed a four-year residency in OB/GYN at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Echt remained on staff at Ochsner Clinic as Assistant Residency Program Director where she taught young doctors while being a member of a multi-group practice.

In 2000, Dr. Echt relocated to Santa Barbara.  For the past 22 years, she has run a successful solo private OB/GYN practice.  Dr. Echt has had the privilege of being part of the lives of many Santa Barbarans surgically, obstetrically, and gynecologically.

In 2022, Dr. Echt began a new chapter focusing her expertise solely on surgical and gynecologic care.  She offers traditional gynecologic services.  She has extensive experience helping women transition through the menopausal climacteric state.

Dr. Echt has spent her surgical career performing corrective surgeries for uterine and vaginal prolapse.

Since residency, she has performed minimally invasive surgeries using laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.   In the last ten years, she has advanced her surgical skills on the DaVinci robot.  She keeps herself up to date with new research and clinical practices while maintaining her board certification.

Dr. Echt's focus is devoted to providing patients the time to fully express their medical concerns.  In her words,  "I look forward to continuing what I love, practicing medicine, for the long term."

Dr. Echt enjoys living in Santa Barbara with her husband, Danny, her two children, Gabby and Hannah, and her two golden retrievers, Bruce and Figgy.  Her hobbies include hiking, gardening, and cooking.  She appreciates the quality of life in beautiful Santa Barbara and feels privileged to be a part of the fabulous medical community here.
